COSTA MESA, Calif.; February 25, 2019 – Mesa Water® District has been awarded two “H.R. LaBounty Safety Awards” from the Association of California Water Agencies Joint Powers Insurance Authority (ACWA/JPIA) – a statewide partnership of water agencies working together to share the risks associated with purveying water. Mesa Water was recognized for two outstanding safety improvements implemented to reduce the risk of work injuries and hazards.

These improvements brought on by members of our water Operations and Engineering teams, respectively, included the installation of flexible rubber and steel steps and hand holds on our vehicle fleet for easier access for water operations’ employees to load and unload equipment and supplies. In addition, a fall protection net was implemented at a 20-foot high reservoir drain vault, further preventing fall hazards.

The “H.R. LaBounty Safety Awards” program recognizes ACWA/JPIA water industry employees who implement significant safety program improvements.

“Mesa Water is committed to the safety of our employees, who work diligently to provide safe, reliable, clean water to our customers,” said General Manager, Paul E. Shoenberger, P.E. “Our Operations team safety ambassadors collaborate on safety opportunities, and provide multiple ways for all staff to share safety innovations. Mesa Water continues to foster a safety culture that rewards and recognizes employees who proactively implement safe and risk-reducing activities and operations practices.”
