Mesa Water® District Invites Costa Mesa Students to Enter Water Awareness Poster Contest

COSTA MESA, Calif.; February 21, 2019 – Mesa Water® District invites all schools in its service area to participate in the Municipal Water District of Orange County (MWDOC) 2019 Water Awareness Poster Contest. The contest challenges students to demonstrate their water knowledge through the creation of original artwork depicting this year’s theme: “Water is Life.”

For over 30 years, Mesa Water’s participation in the Water Awareness Poster Contest has encouraged Orange County students to take a closer look at water – our most precious natural resource – and discover how access to clean, fresh drinking water improves our daily lives.

Mesa Water supports various educational events throughout the year, including in-school water education assemblies for fifth graders.

The contest is open to all Orange County students, kindergarten through 12th grade. MWDOC receives nearly one-thousand entries each year from students across the county, from whom 40 winners are selected and recognized at an awards ceremony held at the Discovery Cube Orange County.

From the 40 winning posters recognized, five will be submitted to the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California’s (Metropolitan) regional poster contest. Winners of this Southern California competition will earn a spot in Metropolitan’s annual “Water is Life” calendar, and will have their artwork on display throughout the region as part of a Metropolitan coordinated traveling art exhibit.

The deadline to submit entries for the 2019 Water Awareness Poster Contest is April 5. Contest rules can be found at: www.mwdoc.com/postercontest
