Orange County’s Most Efficient Water Agency Welcomes Public Input
COSTA MESA, Calif. – After assessing the financial impacts of rising costs to provide water, as well as the need to invest nearly $36 million in capital improvements, Mesa Water District (Mesa Water®) has proposed adjustments to its water rates and charges. The public can learn more about Mesa Water’s proposed water rate/charge adjustments online at MesaWater.org/2017-Rates-Study, which offers the following information:
- Mailed Notice re. 2017 Proposed Water Rate/Charge Adjustments – this notice was mailed to all Mesa Water ratepayers and those who own property in the service area;
- 2017 Rate Study Report – in addition to being available online, this report can be emailed, faxed, or mailed to Mesa Water customers upon request;
- Planned Capital Improvements 2018-2022 – a substantial percentage of the proposed water rate/charge adjustments would fund this list of projects estimated to cost nearly $36 million;

Workshop Takes Place Saturday, October 21, 10:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m., at the MWRF
COSTA MESA, Calif. – Mesa Water District (Mesa Water®) will host a half-day Water Issues Study Group (WISG) water education program for adults on Saturday, October 21, 2017, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Offered at no cost to participants, WISG is open to Mesa Water® customers and community members, including residents and individuals from local businesses, public agencies, and high schools, as well as elected officials, media, industry colleagues, and others interested in learning about Mesa Water and water in general. For the public’s convenience, and based on feedback from past participants, this year’s WISG is reformatted to take place in one half-day at the Mesa Water Reliability Facility (MWRF).
DePasquale to Take Oath of Office at District’s September 14 Board Meeting
COSTA MESA, Calif. – Mesa Water District (Mesa Water®), a top-performing public water agency, welcomes Marice H. DePasquale to its Board of Directors (Board) representing Division III of the District’s service area. Division III encompasses North Costa Mesa, including the Halecrest neighborhood, with landmarks such as South Coast Plaza, Segerstrom Center for the Arts, and Orange Coast College.
“The fine candidates who applied to be Director of Division III all presented compelling qualifications for the Board’s consideration,” said Mesa Water Board President Jim Atkinson. “As a 20-year resident of Costa Mesa, Ms. DePasquale possesses incredible business savvy, land and water outreach consulting experience, and public affairs expertise that will add a fresh perspective to the Mesa Water Board,” said Atkinson.
Free Festival Features Live Entertainment, Games, Prizes, and Local Nonprofits
COSTA MESA, Calif. – Mesa Water District (Mesa Water®), a top-performing public water agency that supplies water to 110,000 residents throughout Costa Mesa and parts of Newport Beach, invites its community to a free family-friendly festival at its headquarters in Costa Mesa. The “I ♥ Mesa Water” festival, to be held on Saturday, September 23 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., will celebrate health, happiness, and community.
The festival will kick off with a ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially launch Mesa Water’s new water vending machine. After the ceremony, festival attendees will receive a reuseable water bottle (while supplies last) for a free fill-up of fresh drinking water from Mesa Water’s new water vending machine.
Mesa Water Well Prepared to Perform Emergency Pipeline Repairs
COSTA MESA, Calif. – Mesa Water District (Mesa Water®) quickly shut off pipeline leaks in parts of its service area on August 29 and 30. Due to the organization’s advance planning, Mesa Water was well organized and equipped to efficiently repair the leaks.
“This incident underscores the importance of Mesa Water always having on-call crew members ready to report for duty at a moment’s notice, as well as on-call services to support our emergency engineering and operations activities” said Mesa Water Board President Jim Atkinson. “The District’s diligent advance planning enabled us to complete the repairs in a timely manner.”
Veteran directors to guide water district through perpetual infrastructure improvements
COSTA MESA, Calif. – Mesa Water District (Mesa Water®), a top-performing public water agency, has elected Jim Atkinson to serve as Board President and Fred Bockmiller to serve as Vice President through December 13, 2018. President Atkinson has served on the Board since 1998 and represents the Division IV communities of College Park, Mesa del Mar and Monticello, as well as John Wayne Airport and the OC Fairgrounds. This is his fourth term as Board President. Vice President Bockmiller has served on the Board since 1996 and represents Division I, encompassing the Westside of Costa Mesa and portions of Newport Beach. This is his sixth term as Vice President.
