About Paul

Paul E. Shoenberger, P.E., is the General Manager of Mesa Water District (Mesa WaterĀ®) since 2009. Before that, he served on Mesa Waterā€™s Board of Directors for nearly nine years, with three of those years as Board President.

A local advocate for water supply and quality issues, Paul serves as Chairman of the Orange County Groundwater Producerā€™s Group. He previously served on the Board of Directors of the Association of California Water Agencies (ACWA) and as Chair of ACWAā€™s Water Management Committee.

Paul has more than 30 years of experience in the water industry, addressing water supply and water quality issues. His experience includes ten years as an engineering consultant to the water industry, and prior to becoming Mesa Waterā€™s General Manager in 2009, Paul spent fifteen years at another water district, including three years as its Assistant General Manager.

His goal for Mesa Water is to provide reliable, clean, safe water at a cost-effective price. He has pledged to do all he can to secure the communityā€™s continuing prosperity through the provision of a reliable supply of safe water now and for the future.

Paul has been a resident of Costa Mesa for more than 30 years. He holds a Masterā€™s Degree in Water Resource Management and Planning from Colorado State University, and a Bachelorā€™s Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of California, Davis. He is a registered Professional Engineer with the State of California.
