The winning research poster team celebrates at the Institute for Conservation Research and Education symposium at Mesa Water on May 30.

Carl Sagan once said, ā€œSomewhere, something incredible is waiting to be knownā€ ā€“ and that was exactly the mood when budding scientists from area high schools presented their year-long research at the Institute for Conservation Research and Education poster symposium, held recently at Mesa Water. The students conducted meticulous research at natural habitats on topics ranging from water quality to bird environments. The coveted winning spot went to the ā€œInsect Visitation Habits Among Native and Invasive Plantsā€ poster by Tyler Nofts, Ally FitzGerald, Sofia Kehoe and Souheeilah Vargas of Estancia High School.
