Mesa Water for innovative customer service initiatives

COSTA MESA, Calif.; September 14, 2021 ā€“ Mesa Water District (Mesa WaterĀ®) is proud to announce it received a first place customer service award for its "New Customer Welcome Program" and Neighborhood Chats initiative in the 2021 California Municipal Utilities Association Resource Efficiency & Community Service Awards. These annual awards highlight best practices and innovative ideas within Californiaā€™s water and power industry.

ā€œMesa Water conducts more than 30,000 water quality tests each year to ensure our water meets rigorous drinking water standards,ā€ says Marice H. DePasquale, Mesa Water Board President. ā€œWe are pleased to deliver 100% safe, local and reliable water to our community, from our local groundwater wells straight to the tap.ā€

Mesa Water is among nine publicly-owned agencies and utilities that took top honors. Mesa Water was recognized in the medium-size utility community service category for its entry, ā€œWonā€™t You Be My Neighbor? Good Neighbor Initiative.ā€

ā€œWe are incredibly honored to be recognized for our unique programs to connect with our customers and put a familiar, friendly face on Mesa Water, the agency responsible for delivering our customers an abundance of local, reliable, clean, safe water. This award reflects Mesa Waterā€™s commitment and dedication to our customers and community,ā€ says Marice H. DePasquale, Mesa Water Board President.

For Mesa Waterā€™s New Customer Welcome Program, in conjunction with the Districtā€™s prompt water connection service, new customers receive a hand-delivered welcome bag filled with useful and water efficient Mesa Water-branded items, such as a refillable water bottle. New customers also receive a personal phone call from Mesa Water staff and a postcard wishing them a warm welcome to the community.

Mesa Waterā€™s Neighborhood Chats involve Mesa Water's Board of Directors who meet with residents at public locations in neighborhoods throughout the Districtā€™s service area to discuss water supply, ongoing water use efficiency efforts, and opportunities to serve customers more economically and effectively.

Each nominated program was judged on overall concept and implementation, originality, creativity and innovativeness, promotion of efficient use of natural resources and/or serving local community needs, and benefits to customers and/or the community.
