Transparency

Mesa Water District is dedicated to operating as a transparent public agency. We strive to provide high-quality drinking water to our customers through efficient operations and excellent customer service. We are the only Orange County water provider to meet 100 percent of our customers’ needs using local groundwater and our water is among the most affordable in the county.

Mesa Water provides drinking water to 110,000 residents in Costa Mesa, parts of Newport Beach and some unincorporated areas, including John Wayne Airport. We are governed by a five-member Board of Directors that is responsible for policies and decision making. The General Manager is responsible for managing day-to-day operations including a staff of 50 and a combined annual Operating and Capital Budget of approximately $41 million.

As an independent special district, we are unique in that we do not collect taxes to fund any of our operations. We understand the importance of government accountability, openness, and transparency; and, we appreciate our responsibility to the public and press regarding government oversight, including reporting compensation.
