KEY MILESTONES IN MESA WATER HISTORY

From its early roots when our community’s water came from natural underground springs via artesian wells, to the present, where we provide clean, safe water to more than 110,000 residents, Mesa Water is positioned to continue to serve generations to come.

Below are some of the key milestones in Mesa Water history.

1960

On January 1, Costa Mesa Water District commenced operations.

1969

The unveiling of new white hydrants signaled a commitment to local water sources.

1990

Completion of Reservoir 1 was one of the first steps in becoming 100% local and reliable.

2012

Opening the Mesa Water Reliability Facility (MWRF) has allowed 100% locally-reliable water supplies to its service area.

2020

Mesa Water celebrates 60 years of being one of the most efficient water agencies in Orange County.
