Staff Splash: Meet Edna Gastelo

From assisting with recruitments to supporting day-to-day operations, Edna plays a key role in helping Mesa Water's Human Resources and Administrative Services departments stay on track.

What skills or qualities do you think are most important for someone in your role?

Strong interpersonal skills, adaptability and the ability to seamlessly prioritize competing demands are essential in my position as a department assistant. Because my role uniquely spans both Administrative Services and Human Resources, clear and thoughtful communication across departments is the glue that keeps everything running smoothly. Balancing administrative operations with HR needs requires a high level of organization and a genuine desire to support others every day.

If you could teach Mesa Water customers one thing about what you do, what would it be?

I’d love for our customers to see the heart behind our recruitment process and how we build the team that serves them. Part of my role in HR involves coordinating interviews for talented individuals who are eager to join Mesa Water. Reaching out to candidates and hearing their genuine excitement when invited to interview is deeply rewarding, and it reflects just how proud people are to serve our community.

If your department had a team motto, what would it be? 

For Administrative Services, our motto would be “Here to help, ready to support,” because we constantly strive to be a supportive, reliable resource for anyone who reaches out or walks through our doors. For Human Resources, it would be “First impressions, lasting connections.” As the face of the organization for incoming candidates, we take pride in creating a welcoming experience that sets a positive tone for their journey with Mesa Water.

What’s your favorite place in Mesa Water’s service area?

Hands down, Mercado González! It’s such a vibrant local gem with an amazing atmosphere, incredible food options and beautiful aesthetic details throughout the space. Whether you’re stopping by to pick-up fresh ingredients, grab a delicious meal or just soak in the lively culture, it’s a spot I always recommend to anyone in the area!

What's your favorite way to enjoy water outside of work?

My absolute favorite way to enjoy water is by spending a restorative day at the spa! Unwinding in a warm hydrotherapy pool or relaxing in a soothing steam room is my ultimate way to reset and recharge. It’s the perfect blend of self-care and quiet relaxation after a busy week.
