Mesa Water Board of Directors Recognizes Local Students for Winning Video Contest Submissions

COSTA MESA, Calif.; April 25, 2022Mesa Water District (Mesa Water®) Board of Directors recognized local high school students for their winning video contest submissions at Mesa Water’s board meeting on April 13. Three cash prizes and certificates of appreciation were awarded to the following:

  • 1st Place – $1,000 - Sarita Plata, 11th grade, Early College High School
  • 2nd Place - $750 - Karla Gurrola, Andi Lopez, Daisy Serrano, 9th grade and Jaidyn Soldin, 10th grade, Costa Mesa High School
  • 3rd Place - $500 –Esmeralda Andres, Elizabeth Palma, Victoria Perdomo and Alexa Santiago, 12th grade, Costa Mesa High School
     

“The video contest is a terrific opportunity to engage high school and college students in our service area in a creative way that allows them to learn about  Mesa Water and where their water comes from,” says Marice H. DePasquale, Mesa Water Board President. It’s an honor to recognize this new generation of talented storytellers for highlighting Mesa Water’s commitment to provide 100% local, reliable, clean and safe water."

Local students who live in or attend high schools and colleges in the Mesa Water service area were invited to submit a short, informative video addressing one the following questions:

  • Why is it safe to drink Mesa Water straight from the tap?
  • What does it mean to you that Mesa Water is 100% local?
  • Why do you love Mesa Water?                       
     

A panel of judges selected the winning videos based on accuracy, creativity, quality and entertainment value.
