Posted: Wednesday, April 27, 2022

Stacy Taylor, water policy manager at Mesa Water, is dedicated to advocating for safe, reliable, affordable drinking water.

Q: Tell us about your Mesa Water journey.
A: In 2010, I joined Mesa Water as manager of the new Communications department where I implemented award-winning water awareness, education, and outreach programs. In 2013, the department name changed to Public & Government Affairs and my role expanded to include legislative and regulatory advocacy. After several years of advocacy work, I became the water policy manager to focus on policy issues.

Q: What is one water policy position or initiative that you worked on that you are most proud of?
A: My favorite water policy achievements include: advocating for grant funding for our community’s water infrastructure; defeating a Sacramento tax on water; defending the public’s right to fair water rates; and, leading a stakeholder team in opposing policies and regulations that could negatively affect water cost and availability.

Q: What is your favorite thing about working at Mesa Water?
A: The collaborative and entrepreneurial spirit that infuses every Mesa Water Board member and employee, along with the District’s emphasis on ensuring the health and safety of our public and staff.

Q: What do you like to do when you’re not at work?
A: In addition to relaxing with family and friends, I enjoy arts and entertainment activities. I am also a lifelong student of dance and yoga.

Staff Splash is a recurring feature in News on Tap. Look forward to meeting more Mesa Water employees in future issues.
