As a 26-year Costa Mesa resident, Shawn Dewane was appointed to the Mesa Water District Board of Directors in 2005, elected in 2006 and re-elected in 2010, 2014 2018 and 2022. Director Dewane currently serves as Mesa Water’s Board President and represents Division 5. He has previously served as President in 2009 – 2010, 2014-2016 and again in 2018 - 2020.

He serves as a liaison between our Congressional delegation and local business and community leaders.

President Dewane recognizes that clean, affordable water is fundamental to our civil liberties and key to our community's economic development. He is working to increase the local and regional water supply and reliability, preserve water rights and promote fiscal responsibility and transparency in government.

President Dewane is Immediate Past Chairman of CalDesal, a nonprofit organization that supports clean, safe reliable drinking water for California through environmentally responsible water desalination and salinity management. He is a member of the Association of California Water Agencies and represents the District at State and National conferences. He sits on the Board of Directors for the Orange County Employees Retirement Systems which provides County employees secure retirement and disability benefits with the highest standards of excellence and oversight.

Professionally, President Dewane is an Investment Management Consultant with Dewane Investment Strategies, which provides tax, estate and investment planning advice to individuals and institutions. His work was profiled in a Registered Representative article titled, "Profitable Knowledge."

Recognized for his achievements and service, President Dewane received the Paul Harris Fellowship from Rotary International, and a scholarship from the Los Angeles Society of Financial Analysts.

President Dewane earned a Master of Business Administration from Pepperdine University, and a Bachelor of Science degree from Arizona State University. He is also honored to serve as adjunct faculty at Pepperdine University.
