Mesa Water District Releases Final Draft 2010 Urban Water Management Plan

Posted: Wednesday, June 16, 2021

Public Hearing and Possible Plan Adoption at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at Mesa Water District Board Meeting

WHAT: The Mesa Water District (Mesa Water) Board of Directors is preparing its 2010 Urban Water Management Plan (UWMP) for adoption. Under state law, water agencies across the state must update their UWMP every five years to ensure that they are planning for adequate water supplies in order to meet existing and future water demands in their service areas. Mesa Water posted its final draft 2010 UWMP online at www.MesaWater.org under “conservation”.

WHO: The Mesa Water Board of Directors invites the community to attend a public hearing for the purpose of receiving public comments regarding its 2010 UWMP, and to adopt the Plan. This hearing takes place during Mesa Water’s regular monthly Board Meeting.

WHEN/WHERE: 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 24, 2011
Mesa Water Headquarters -- 1965 Placentia Avenue, Costa Mesa, CA 92627

WHY: Mesa Water’s final draft 2010 UWMP outlines the District’s long-term resources management strategy. All water suppliers that sell more than 3,000 acre-feet of water or serve more than 3,000 connections are required to submit a UWMP to the California Department of Water Resources. The UWMP provides water supply planning for a 25-year planning period in 5-year increments. Additionally, the UWMP identifies water supplied for existing and future demands based on varying climatic and hydrologic conditions. An important new requirement for the 2010 UWMP is the establishment of water conservation targets in order to achieve a 20 percent reduction in per capita water use by the year 2020, as required under the Water Conservation Act of 2009, commonly referred to as 20 by 2020.
