Water Education Throughout the Year

Posted: Thursday, May 27, 2021

Mesa Water District (Mesa Water®) provides water education to encourage people of all ages to learn more about their water supplies through the following programs:

5th Grade Assemblies

Instructors from Discovery Cube OC lead assemblies for 5th-grade classes in Mesa Water’s service area. Students learn about our water sources and how to use water wisely. Assemblies are provided at no cost to schools. To schedule 5th grade classes for assemblies, teachers may call Discovery Cube OC at 714.263.3806.

Children’s Water Education Festival

The annual Children’s Water Education Festival, hosted by Orange County Water District, will be held on March 28 & 29, 2018, at UC Irvine for 3rd through 5th-grade classes in Mesa Water’s service area. Schools may also request sponsorship of bus transportation to and from the field trip, awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Schools can sign up at ChildrenWaterFestival.com.

Solar Cup Team

Mesa Water is sponsoring Costa Mesa High School to participate in Metropolitan Water District’s 2018 Solar Cup boat-building and boat-racing competition. The sprint and endurance competitions take place at Lake Skinner May 18-20, 2018. Follow @MesaWater on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter for updates. Go Mesa!

Water Issues Study Group

Mesa Water has reformatted its Water Issues Study Group (WISG) to cover multiple subjects in one half-day workshop, including an overview of Mesa Water, our local water supplies, water quality, and water use efficiency. WISG will be offered fall 2017 and spring 2018, with an alumni meeting in summer 2018. Located at the award-winning Mesa Water Reliability Facility (MWRF), WISG also includes tours of the MWRFs’ state-of-the-art nanofiltration technology and water-wise gardens. Visit MesaWater.org/WISG for details.
