This new online portal streamlines the backflow testing process by maintaining backflow assembly records, scheduling required testing, sending automated notifications and allowing certified backflow testers to submit test results electronically. SpryBackflow allows for greater communication between Mesa Water and backflow device owners and testers. Information for Certified Backflow TestersCertified backflow testers will now use the SpryBackflow portal to register, manage certifications and testing equipment and submit backflow test results electronically for Mesa Water’s review. Getting StartedBefore submitting test results, testers must:Register for a Backflow Tester account.Complete their profile information.Upload their current certification.Register their calibrated testing gaugeAfter registration, testers will receive an email with instructions to create a password and log in. SpryBackflow system simplifies this process by providing a centralized platform for Mesa Water to manage backflow records, testing schedules, customer notifications and compliance activities.Owner ResponsibilitiesThe owner is responsible for:Ensuring required backflow testing is completed and test results are submitted by the required due dateHiring a certified backflow tester to perform the required testing and providing the tester with the assembly PIN so the results can be submitted electronically. Owners are responsible for ensuring the tester submits the passing results by the due date and should avoid waiting until the last minute.Maintaining current contact information to receive important notices and reminders.Responding promptly to testing and compliance notifications.Coordinating with a certified backflow tester to complete required testing and any necessary repair/replacement.Next Steps:Schedule the Test: Arrange for your backflow prevention assembly to be tested by a certified backflow tester of your choice. A list of local certified backflow testers is available through the County of Orange. Mesa Water does not endorse or recommend any specific tester. You may use any tester who holds a current certification from an organization approved by the California State Water Resources Control Board.Provide Backflow Assembly PIN Number to the Tester: Give the tester a copy of your backflow test notification letter. This notice contains your backflow assembly information and the assigned PIN required for the tester to submit the test results through the SpryBackflow system.Ensure Test Results Are Submitted: Your backflow tester is responsible for submitting the test results electronically to Mesa Water through the SpryBackflow system. However, it is your responsibility to ensure the results are submitted successfully by the due date to avoid penalties or potential water service interruption. Test reports submitted by mail, email, fax, or delivered to the Mesa Water office will not be accepted and will not satisfy the testing deadline.Addressing Failures: If your backflow prevention assembly fails the test, it must be repaired or replaced and then successfully retested.
