Mesa Water District Hosts 25th Annual Water Issues Study Group

2011 Marks the Silver Anniversary of the District’s Water Education Program for Adults

Costa Mesa, Calif. –  In 2011, Mesa Water District marks the Silver Anniversary of its annual Water Issues Study Group. This adult educational program, hosted by the District’s Board of Directors, is open to all Mesa Water District customers interested in learning more about topics related to groundwater.

Mesa Water District formed the Water Issues Study Group in 1986 to inform community members about water history, water sources, water quality, and other important water issues. This six-month adult program educates The District’s customers on topics such as water conservation, water reliability, and the various types of available groundwater.

The 2011 series begins January 19, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., in the District’s Boardroom located at 1965 Placentia Avenue, Costa Mesa, CA 92627. The program continues through June, at the same time and location, with meetings on the third Wednesday of each month.

“The Water Issues Study Group is great way for the District’s customers to gain knowledge about their water supply and system, while also learning about water use efficiency,” said Mesa Water District Board President Fred R. Bockmiller, Jr., P.E. He continued, “The Mesa Water District Board of Directors is proud to offer such a high-quality program for our community…and there’s no cost for participants to attend.”

Water Issues Study Group participants learn from the District’s staff and other experts who provide presentations and conduct discussions about local, regional, and state-wide water issues. Also, the program includes VIP tours of local water facilities for an interesting behind-the-scenes experience.

Since the Water Issues Study Group began, more than 700 Mesa Water District customers have taken part, and participants are encouraged to share their knowledge with others in order to expand water awareness throughout the community.
