Wahoo's, Water & Waves" Campaign Launches Nov. 7 to Increase Water Awareness

Wahoo’s, Mesa Water District, Hurley Partnership Benefits OC Coastkeeper

WHAT: Mesa Water District (Mesa Water) is partnering with the local nonprofit, OC Coastkeeper, and two businesses in its service area -- Wahoo’s and Hurley -- to inform the public that:

  • Mesa Water customers receive high-quality, clean water that’s safe from the tap;
  • Refilling re-useable, washable water bottles reduces landfill pollution; and,
  • Less pollution helps waterways -- such as rivers, streams, and oceans -- stay healthy.

As part of this water-awareness campaign, a limited-edition refillable water bottle -- co-branded with Mesa Water and Wahoo’s -- is available for $2 with the purchase of any kids meal at Wahoo’s three Costa Mesa restaurants during November (while supplies last). Proceeds from the water bottle sales will benefit Costa Mesa-based OC Coastkeeper, a charity that protects and preserves marine habitats and watersheds.  To launch the campaign and kick-off sales of the water bottles, the original Wahoo’s restaurant in Costa Mesa is hosting a special event on Thursday, November 7, at 2:00 p.m.  This event is also part of Wahoo’s year-long celebration of its 25th anniversary.

WHO: This event is free and open to the public and press, with handouts of water-wise souvenirs and information, and a brief program to include:

  • Proclamation by Mesa Water’s Board President, James R. Fisler, to Wahoo’s Owner/Founder Wing Lam;
  • Remarks by Hurley Vice President of Global Outreach, Ben Edwards;
  • Check presentation from Wahoo’s to OC Coastkeeper;
  • Water bottle fill-ups by Mesa Water; and,
  • Wing Lam autographing the first 100 water bottles sold.

WHEN/WHERE:

Thursday, November 7 at 2:00 p.m.
