Are We Still In A Drought?

Southern California has experienced record-setting rain and snowfall this winter. With such bountiful supplies, many customers are asking: “Are we still in a drought?”

On February 8, the State Water Resources Control Board extended statewide conservation regulations to prevent waste and encourage efficiency under the Governor’s ongoing emergency drought declaration. The agency will re-evaluate this status in May, but until then, regulations remain in effect. What does this mean for Mesa Water customers?

Mesa Water’s approach has been to promote and incentivize water use efficiency and discourage waste of our valuable water resources. As Mesa Water customers continue to practice efficient water use in their homes and yards, we encourage you to find even more water saving tools.

Efforts can be simple, including a shorter shower, watering outdoors just one day a week during winter and timely repair of leaks in irrigation and appliances. For more ambitious homeowners, turf removal rebates are offered through Mesa Water. To learn more click here.

As warmer months approach, it’s important to continue being efficient water users. It’s also important to know where our water comes from. Thanks to a big vision and investments made long ago, Mesa Water provides 100 percent of its water from local sources. To learn more about the Mesa Water Reliability Facility, visit MesaWater.org.
