MESA CONSOLIDATED WATER DISTRICT
RECEIVES DISTRICT OF DISTINCTION ACCREDITATION
Costa Mesa, Calif. – Mesa Consolidated Water District (Mesa) became the fourth special
district in 2007 to receive the impressive District of Distinction Award (Award) from the
Special District Leadership Foundation.
The Award is one of the most prestigious in local government in the state of
California. This accreditation validates Mesa’s commitment to good governance and to
ethical and sound operating practices. The accreditation criteria included the submission of
financial audits, current and relevant policies and procedures, and proof of training
completed by each of the district’s Board of Directors and executive management staff in
ethics, governance, and leadership.
“The accreditation shows that Mesa understands and respects the responsibilities
inherent to providing essential public services,” said Paul E. Shoenberger, Mesa’s Board
President. “The Board of Directors is extremely proud of this outstanding achievement.”
The Special District Leadership Foundation is a non-profit organization formed to
provide educational opportunities to special district and local government elected and
appointed officials and employees to enhance services provided to the public by special
district in California.
Mesa provides water service
to more than 100,000 customers in an 18 square-mile
area. The service area includes the city of Costa
Mesa, parts of Newport Beach, and the John Wayne Airport.
Mesa is dedicated to satisfying our community's water
needs.
