MESA RECOGNIZES TWO LOCAL STUDENTS
FOR OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENTS
Costa Mesa, Calif. – More
than 1,500 students throughout Orange County
demonstrated their artistic talents and creative
writing skills in the 2007 Poster and Slogan
Contest. The theme for this year was, “Be
a Water-Wise Pro…Conserve H20.” Among
this year’s winners are two students from
Mesa's service area.
Gianna
Jason, a sixth grader in Mrs. Miller’s
class at Christ Lutheran School, won for her
slogan, “Proclaim the news throughout the
land: Everybody spare water, there’s not
much at hand!”
Diane
Nicole Javier, a student in Mrs. Womble’s
third grade class at Kaiser Elementary School,
won for her slogan, “The environment needs
help, it’s true, conserving water starts
with YOU!”
“Mesa
and the Board of Directors are proud of all of
the students who participated in the contest,” said
Paul E. Shoenberger, Mesa’s Board President. “The
dedication of the teachers who support water
education is also impressive.”
An
awards ceremony was held for all of the winners
at the Discovery Science Center on May 15th.
Mesa's Board of Directors and the Municipal Water
District of Orange County recognized the winning
students and teachers from Mesa’s service
area at Mesa’s Board meeting on June 12,
2007.
The
annual Poster and Slogan Contest is designed
to promote wise water use among children in kindergarten
through sixth grade.
Mesa provides water service
to more than 100,000 customers in an 18 square-mile
area. The service area includes the city of Costa
Mesa, parts of Newport Beach, and the John Wayne Airport.
Mesa is dedicated to satisfying our community's water
needs.
