MESA SEEKS GRANT FUNDING TO PROTECT COMMUNITY AGAINST WATER SHORTAGES
Costa Mesa, Calif.–Mesa Consolidated Water District (Mesa) is seeking grant funding for the technology upgrade and expansion of its Colored Water Treatment Facility (CWTF). Mesa expects to receive funds through Federal Economic Stimulus Money and State Propositions 50 and 84.
The Board of Directors (Board) is committed to further protecting the community from severe water shortages. The project will become increasingly more important as California’s water crisis worsens.
“Mesa’s facility provides a unique water source that allows us to access supplies not available to many other communities, making us less dependent on imported water,” said Shawn Dewane, Mesa’s Board President. “Having the capability to produce more water from the facility will mean Mesa is using less water from other supplies, which will be a great benefit to surrounding communities as well.”
Mesa’s CWTF pumps high quality water from deep aquifers in Orange County’s groundwater basin. The water treated at the CWTF to remove color and scent caused by ancient redwood forests.
Mesa provides water service
to more than 100,000 customers in an 18 square-mile
area. The service area includes the city of Costa
Mesa, parts of Newport Beach, and the John Wayne
Airport. Mesa is dedicated to satisfying our community's
water needs.
