MESA’S BOARD PRESIDENT RECEIVES AWARD
FOR EXCELLENCE IN LEADERSHIP
Costa Mesa, Calif.– Mesa
Consolidated Water District (Mesa) is proud to announce
that James F. Atkinson, Mesa’s Board President,
has been awarded the Excellence in Leadership Award
from Leadership Tomorrow.
The Excellence in Leadership Award is presented
to a person who has been affiliated with Leadership
Tomorrow and best represents the characteristics
of leadership for the past year. The nominations
for this award are solicited from the Leadership
Tomorrow Board and Alumni during the course of the
year.
President Atkinson is a graduate of the Leadership Tomorrow Class of 2001.
Following his completion of the program he remained active as a board member
for several years and has served as Vice Chair. Though no longer on the
Leadership Tomorrow Board, Mr. Atkinson remains active with the organization
and is instrumental in organizing an annual water workshop to help each class
become aware of the complex water infrastructure in Southern California.
"Mr. Atkinson personifies what Leadership
Tomorrow is all about," said Stephanie Murguia,
Leadership Tomorrow Board Chair. "He has
donated countless hours to our non-profit organization
in addition to the time he spends on the critical
water issues as President of the Mesa Board. He is
an extremely deserving recipient of the award."
The award was presented to President Atkinson at
the Leadership Tomorrow’s "Celebrating
Leadership" event on February 7, 2008.
Leadership Tomorrow is a non-profit organization
whose mission is to expand knowledge, empower citizens
and promote community involvement through an educational
program in civic awareness and leadership.
Mesa provides water service
to more than 100,000 customers in an 18 square-mile
area. The service area includes the city of Costa
Mesa, parts of Newport Beach, and the John Wayne
Airport. Mesa is dedicated to satisfying our community's
water needs.
